IPA CIS Participates in Session of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries

On 27–28 September 2021, the Tenth Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (Turk-PA), organized by the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took place in Turkistan.
The event brought together the representatives of the parliaments of Turkic-speaking countries: Speaker of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gavarova, Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov, as well as Speaker of the Great National Assembly of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Shentop.
Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He recalled that the two assemblies had been maintaining interaction for over ten years and stressed that the IPA CIS and TurkPA shared common values and views on relevant issues of the regional and international agenda.
Dmitriy Kobitskiy called cooperation in the field of countering terrorism and violent extremism as one of the key areas of partnership. “Our main goal as regional parliamentary assemblies is to combine efforts for legislative support of countering this challenge and exchange best practices in responding to the manifestations of international terrorism,” says the message, delivered by Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurbek Satvaldiev.
