Statement of Heads of CIS Member Nations on Development of Cooperation in Field of Migration Agreed at Expert Level

Today, the CIS experts agreed on the draft Statement of the Heads of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States on the Development of Cooperation in the Field of Migration via videoconferencing. It is planned that the document will be considered on 15 October 2021 at the next meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of State.

The meeting of the expert group brought together the representatives of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.

The participants discussed the comments and proposals to the draft Statement and agreed on the document and the corresponding draft decisions of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers and the Council of the CIS Heads of State.

It is expected that the adoption of the Statement will contribute to improving the CIS legal framework in the field of migration, strengthening cooperation in migration policy issues, and will also help to intensify interaction in regulating migration processes across the Commonwealth.
