On 14 July 2020, the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk (Republic of Belarus) provided the venue for the meeting of the Working Group on Drafting the Provisions on Virtual Museum of CIS Cultural Heritage held via videoconferencing.

The event brought together the members of the Working Group, the representatives of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the staff members of the CIS Executive Committee.

The members of the Working Group discussed and finalized the drafts of the Concept of the Virtual Museum of CIS Cultural Heritage and the Action Plan of its Establishment and Development.

The materials will be submitted to the members of the CIS Advisory Board on Cultural Cooperation, who will consider the draft documents on the regular meeting of the Council.

The establishment of the Virtual Museum was initiated by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan – presiding over the CIS in 2020 – Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The project is aimed at assembling the material cultural heritage of the CIS countries in one Internet virtual museum, which will allow organizing virtual thematic excursions at archeological and architectural sites, including the scientific 3D reconstructions, landmarks, monuments and museums of the Commonwealth.
