Brest to acquire the status of the Commonwealth Cultural Capital for 2019

In 2019 Brest (Belarus) will celebrate its 1000-year anniversary and acquire the status of the Commonwealth Cultural Capital for 2019.

“Brest, the Commonwealth Cultural Capital 2019” program features over 1000 events, including those dedicated to the city’s anniversary. In 2019 Belarus will host 2nd European Games. Minsk has been declared the official capital of the competition, though some of the events will also be held in Brest. In November 2019 Brest will for the first time host the Karpov Chess Cup within the framework of the chess tournament “Black Pawn”.

Brest will welcome another prominent cultural event next year, the Delphian Games, which feature festivals, competitions, exhibitions and presentations encompassing different arts.
