CIS Agreement on Technical Barriers in Mutual Trade was discussed in Moscow

An expert group meeting on harmonization draft CIS Agreement on Technical Barriers in Mutual Trade was held at the CIS Executive Committee office in Moscow. The meeting approved a few principal provisions of the document.

Director of the Department of State Policy in the Field of Technical Regulation and Ensuring Unity of Measurements of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Oksana Mezentseva chaired the meeting.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrghyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as experts from the CIS Advisory Board for Standartization, Metrology and Certification, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the CIS Executive Committee.

During the discussion, participants agreed on a number of key provisions of the document and decided to continue joint work on the draft Agreement, designed to develop a mechanism to overcome technical barriers in the mutual trade of the CIS Member Nations, including through the conclusion of sectorial protocols regarding specific products.

The next meeting of the expert group is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019.
