CIS experts to discuss issues of medical care for migrant workers

On 30-31 January 2019 a meeting of the expert group on finalization and coordination of the Draft Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member Nations on Medical Care Provision for Migrant Workers and their Families will take place in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk.

The document has been developed by the Russian Federation and aims to further develop intergovernmental cooperation in healthcare, in particular, to create conditions for receiving medical care in the host country. It is expected that the provisions of the Agreement will cover all migrant workers and members of their families, residing in the host country regardless of their legal status.

Since 2013 the CIS Advisory Board on Healthcare operates under the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly as a permanent consultative body. The Board, inter alia, developed the Recommendations on the Harmonization of CIS Legislation in the Field of Medical Care, which guarantee access to and quality of medical care in the Commonwealth countries.
