Democratic elections. A pre-requisite for social well-being and sustainable development

At an international conference Vladimir Garkoun, Executive Secretary of the CIS, stressed that good election laws, democratic practices and sticking with international standards are the cornerstones of free elections.

He also spoke on the related work of the CIS mentioning the adoption of the Convention on Standards of Democratic Elections in 2002 and the record of election monitoring and observation performed by the CIS ant the IPA CIS, in particular.
