Draft statement of the CIS Heads of State on joint counter-terrorism efforts is approved

The participants of the session took into account all the observations shared by representatives of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, finalized and approved draft documents.

The CIS Executive Committee will forward the session papers to the CIS countries for the national approval and after that they will be submitted to the Council of the CIS Heads of State.

The draft statement was developed by the Russian party. It expresses growing concern over the increasing threat of international terrorism to global peace and security, it strongly condemns all forms of terrorism and emphasizes that there is no such an act of terrorism that can be justified by religion, ideology, politics, racial or ethnic prejudice.

The document underscores that these are joint efforts of the global community that are necessary for effective counter-terrorism efforts and for establishing anti-terror coalition under the auspices of the UN based on the norms and principles of international law.
