Experts discuss draft Statement of the CIS Heads of State on Supporting the Institution of Family and Traditional Family Values

The meeting of the Expert Group on the Approval of the Draft Statement of the CIS Heads of State on Supporting the Institution of Family and Traditional Family Values is taking place in the CIS Executive Committee on the occasion of the Year of Family in the Commonwealth.

The Russian side elaborated the document for inclusion as an additional item in the agenda of regular meetings of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers and Council of the CIS Heads of State to be held in Sochi in October 2017.

The document emphasizes the need for cooperation to address problems related to violation of child rights, prevention and investigation of crimes against children, and reduction of child mortality. In addition, the draft refers to the support of the international community in achieving strategic goals for gender equality and women empowerment, including the balance between work and family, and the promotion and protection of child rights.
