Meeting of the Committee of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg on Legislation took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace

Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg on legislation Denis Chetyrbok welcomed the participants of the meeting and gave the floor to Alexey Sergeev, IPA CIS Secretary General.

Alexey Sergeev emphasized that Committee of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg on legislation was invited to hold its meeting in the IPA CIS headquarters due to the deep historical ties shared by the Mariinsky and the Tavrichesky palaces. Alexey Sergeev informed the participants that in October 2017 the 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union would take place in St. Petersburg. The key events are scheduled to take place in the IPA CIS headquarters, while it is also possible that a number of meetings will be held in the Mariinsky Palace. For this reason, the two venues may become centers of world parliamentarism in 2017.

Denis Chetyrbok spoke on the readiness of the Legislative Assembly to review the draft laws contained in the List of Draft Legal Acts and Documents Registered by the Office for Document Management (as of 15 December 2016) of the Legislative Assembly, as well as on legal regulation of passengers and baggage transportation by animal-drawn vehicles and the law-making plan for 2017.

The participants also discussed the draft laws “On introduction of amendments to the law ‘On St. Petersburg referendum’”, as well as “On introduction of amendments to the law ‘On the state civil service of St. Petersburg’” and “On regulation of individual issues of municipal service in St. Petersburg”, and other issues.
