Meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government took place in Astana

On 2 November a meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government chaired by Prime-Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda took place in the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was attended by all delegations of the Commonwealth member states, except Ukraine.

In the narrow format the participants exchanged their opinions on relevant issues of economic cooperation in the CIS.

In the broad format the heads of government discussed and adopted a number of key documents aimed at further strengthening interaction within the Commonwealth.

The participants signed the CIS Cooperation Agreement on Preparedness to Nuclear Accidents or Radiation Emergencies and Mutual Assistance in Liquidation of their Consequences.

The heads of government adopted the Draft Concept of CIS Cooperation on the Development of Production of High-Tech Energy Equipment and the Action Plan on its Implementation.

During the meeting participants signed the CIS Cooperation Agreement on Prevention and Elimination of Centers of Diseases and Forest Pests in Border Areas.

Another adopted document – CIS Cooperation Agreement on Joint Activities in the Sphere of Peaceful Exploration and Uses of Outer Space – aims to strengthen the legal framework of multilateral cooperation in the field.

The meeting also signed the Protocol on Exchange of Information in Electronic Form among the CIS Fiscal Authorities to Support Tax Administration.

Also, a number of the adopted documents relates to financial issues.

The participants also approved the Plan of Priority Measures in the Sphere of Humanitarian Cooperation among the CIS States for 2019–2020, which includes over 140 events.

The Prime-Ministers also approved the Action Plan on the Implementation of the CIS Cooperation Agreement on Managing Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment of 1 June 2018.

The next meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government will take place on 31 May 2019 in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
