Migration situation in the CIS discussed in Bishkek

The capital of the Kyrgyz Republic hosts the 23rd meeting of the Council of the Heads of CIS Migration Authorities.

The meeting is presided by Chairman of the Council, First Vice-Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Colonel-General Alexander Gorovoi.

The participants are discussing migration in the CIS and the progress in signing bilateral agreements on information exchange in the field of migration, bilateral agreements on readmission and temporary employment of citizens in the CIS based on the IPA CIS model agreements.

The Council members exchanged information on the ways of falsification of visa documents identified by CIS competent authorities, and drew the outcomes of the joint prevention activities, investigations and special operations to combat illegal migration. The important issues on the agenda are asylum granting procedures in Armenia, as well as Azerbaijan's practices of cooperation with NGOs focusing on migration and measures to manage labor and educational migration.

Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights Evgenia Vladimirova is attending the meeting on behalf of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat.
