Regular session of the CIS Board on Hydrometeorology in Dushanbe

The 28th session of the CIS Board on Hydrometeorology is taking place in Dushanbe on 17-18 October, the CIS Execom Press Office reports.
The meeting is expected to focus on the work of national hydrometeorological services (NHMS) and their cooperation within the CIS and World Meteorological Organization, the progress of implementing decisions of the 17th World Meteorological Congress building on strategic objectives and the most relevant areas of WMO's activities.
Board members will deliberate the issues related to the implementation of the Agreement on the CIS Hydrometeorological Network and the CIS Strategy on the Development of HM Activities and discuss the progress in drafting the Action Plan to Implement the Strategy for 2016-2020.
The meeting will also feature a briefing on the establishment of Cross-regional Eurasian Bureau of the WMO.
The meeting is also expected to focus on the results of monitoring the work of CIS HM Network in 2015-2016 and pilot use of the System of Automatic Verification of Weather Forecasts for Aviation and to touch upon organizational issues for meteorological support of civil aircraft operation across the CIS.
Other issues on the agenda will include the progress in priority R&D areas for NHMS in 2016-2020, the action plan on the development of the joint practical program approved by national universities of the CIS countries on training HM professionals to meet the industry demands across the CIS, as well as functioning of the North Eurasia Climate Center.
The meeting will, inter alia, review the introduction of the WMO Information System in the CIS countries, discuss involvement in the work of the Group on Earth Observations, and take a number of organizational decisions.
