Regulatory and technical framework in nuclear power industry discussed in Moscow

According to the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee, Moscow hosted the session of the CIS Expert Group on drafting the Agreement on harmonizing approaches to regulatory and technical framework, conformity assessment, standardization, accreditation and metrological assurance in the area of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

The purpose of the Agreement is to work out a coherent policy in defining the main areas of technical regulation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

The session was attended by representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the secretariat of the CIS Commission on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy, and the CIS Executive Committee.

The experts discussed and considered the comments submitted by the CIS member states, approved the draft agreement recommending to forward it for further approval by the CIS supreme bodies.
