The first festival of national sports and games of the CIS memebr nations will be held in Ulyanovsk

According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, in August 2017 the Ulyanovsk region will host one of the biggest sporting events - the First CIS Festival of National Sport Games.

Seven Commonwealth countries have already officially confirmed their participation in the event. According to the organizing committee, the number of visitors and participants in the five-day program will total more than 70 000 people.

The sports program will include 10 key games competitions: sambo, the tug of war, wrestling, Russian skittles (gorodki), belt wrestling, rounders, mini- hockey, weight-lifting, chess, archery.

The symbol of the festival - "Feather of Firebird" is made of simbirtsit – the unique natural material mined exclusively in the Ulyanovsk region. This prize will be awarded to the winners of the team competition.

The program of the Festival also includes:

·                  Exposition of the State Museum of Sports of the Ministry of Sports of Russia "Sporting national traditions of the peoples of the CIS";

·                  Gala presentation of unique exhibits from each country - participant of the competition to the museum;

·                  -CIS Sport Film Festival;

·                  Opening ceremony of the CIS Stele of National Friendship, and laying the foundation stone of the future CIS Park of Friendship;

·                  Presentation of the tourist potential of the CIS countries;

·                  Ethno-cultural international forum "CIS Peoples – as a National Component of Building a Common Cultural and Sporting post-Soviet Space";

·                  Educational media forum of sports journalists and PR-specialists Sport.Connect 2017.
