Turkmenistan Hosts Council of CIS Foreign Ministers Meeting

The meeting adopted the Action Plan for Enhanced Cooperation of CIS Foreign Ministries, featuring practical steps to develop and strengthen the Commonwealth engagement in the field of foreign policy both within the CIS and international organizations, and identifying mechanisms and areas of cooperation to address the key global and regional challenges.

The heads of foreign ministries also adopted Joint Statement on Facilitating Practical Steps to Prevent Arms Race in Outer Space. Besides, the heads tentatively approved a number of documents to be submitted for consideration by the Council of the CIS Heads of State, which will take place in Ashgabat on 11 October 2019. These documents include the draft Address of the CIS Leaders to the Peoples of the Commonwealth and the World Community on the 75th Anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The next meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers will take place on 3 April 2020 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
