V World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue finished its work in Baku

On 2-3 May, the V World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue themed "Building Dialogue to Fight against Discrimination, Inequality and Violent Conflicts" took place in the capital of the Azerbaijan Republic in Baku. The event was aimed at discussing the role of intercultural dialogue as an effective strategy to strengthen human solidarity and provide assistance to members of different communities in combating violence and discrimination.

The Forum was organized in cooperation with the UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the UN World Tourism Organization, the Council of Europe, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and was held under the patronage of President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev. The event brought together the heads of government, ministers and high-ranking politicians from different states, heads of international organizations, goodwill ambassadors, as well as academia, experts, journalists, specialists and activists from all over the world.

At the closing ceremony, Minister of Culture of the Azerbaijan Republic Abdulfas Garaev noted that while the first forum had brought together 40 countries, the current event attracted representation from 135 countries.
