Valentina Matvienko: "The Eurasian Women’s Forum became a global event"

The results of the three days of the second Eurasian Women's Forum were summed up at the Closing plenary session in the Dumsky Hall. Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko stressed that the Eurasian Women’s Forum has firmly taken its place among the most authoritative and representative international events, emerging as a sought-after intellectual public platform for consolidating efforts of women leaders in the interests of global security and sustainable development.

Valentina Matvienko thanked all organizers and participants of the event, and volunteers for the work at the Forum. "We had a unique atmosphere of unity, friendship, mutual understanding. We were all on the same "wavelength" and spoke the same language".

The program for the final day of the second Eurasian Women's Forum was busy. The day started early in the morning with a business breakfast and featured a number of other events.

The second public-private dialogue of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance "Women and Economy" was held. The participants discussed the creation of conditions for women’s economic empowerment and noted that increasing women involvement in economy is one of the drivers for accelerating economic growth globally.

The interparliamentary dialogue of the second Eurasian Women's Forum Women for the Sustainable Development of the Global World took place in the Dumsky Hall of the Tavrichesky Palace bringing together women senators from different countries, concerned about the fragility of the modern world and the vulnerability of social well-being. The moderator of the meeting, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova congratulated the participants on the International Day of Peace, established by the UN General Assembly to salute non-violence renouncing military actions.

Peter and Paul Fortress was the venue of the initiative "Day without a shot on the Earth" , dedicated to the International Day of Peace.

During the final day of the Forum, various open discussions were held, as well as international and expert sessions and other events.

A series of bilateral meetings took place on the sidelines of the Forum.

Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko met with Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh. Valentina Matvienko expressed sincere condolences to the people of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in connection with the death of President Chiang Dai Kuang. The sides discussed issues of bilateral relations.

Valentina Matvienko also met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Shen Yueyue. The parties discussed the prospects for interparliamentary and interregional cooperation, cultural and humanitarian ties, and exchanged views on the issues of the women's agenda.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova met with State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova and President of the Republican Council of Women of Kazakhstan Nina Kayupova.
