CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Forum Held in St. Petersburg

Today, the CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Forum “Young Parliamentarians — Looking into the Future of the Commonwealth” kicked off in the Tavricheskiy Palace.

Coordinator of the CIS Youth Interparliamentary Assembly, member of the Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic on Agrarian Policy, member of the Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic on Regional Affairs Emin Hajiyev opened the Forum recalling that the event is dedicated to two significant dates: the 30^th anniversary of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the 10^th anniversary of the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly.

The heads of the IPA CIS parliamentary delegations addressed the Forum participants with greetings. The welcome remarks of Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council and Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko were delivered by Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the  Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev. Emin Hajiyev delivered welcoming speech of Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova. Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council — Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus at the IPA CIS Viktor Kogut read the messages of the speakers of the chambers of the Belarusian Parliament to forum participants Natalia Kachanova and Vladimir Andreichenko. Member of the Committee of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Social and Cultural Development Vera Kim delivered the message of Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov.  Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on Social Policy Aida Isatbek kyzy delivered the greetings to the participants from Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Talant Mamytov. Member of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption Muhammad Valiyev delivered the welcoming speech of Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva. Speaker of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow sent a video message to the Forum organizers and participants.

Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexander Belsky, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Leningrad Region Sergey Bebenin and the head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) Evgeny Primakov also sent greetings to Forum participants.

The plenary session was followed by thematic roundtables.
