IPA CIS Observers Began Long-Term Monitoring of Parliamentary Elections in Kazakhstan

On 20 February, IPA CIS international observers discussed the election campaign with the leadership and representatives of the campaign headquarters of the “Aq Jol” Democratic Party of Kazakhstan  and the People’s Party of Kazakhstan.

Deputy Head of IPA CIS Council Secretariat – Director of IPA CIS IIMDD Ivan Mushket noted that IPA CIS international observers had begun long-term monitoring and analyzed the electoral legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During short-term monitoring on 17-19 March 2023, IPA CIS observers will monitor in Astana, other regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a number of foreign polling stations.

Ivan Mushket highlighted that observers were guided by the CIS Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections, Electoral Rights and Freedoms. Its main principles are political neutrality, impartiality, non-interference in the electoral process.

“Aq Jol” Democratic party was represented by member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the VII convocation Daniya Espaeva and Chair of the party Aktobe regional office Askar Sadykov. They shared their opinion on the progress of the current election campaign and evaluated the election administration bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
