IPA CIS Observers Met with Leadership of CEC of Republic of Uzbekistan in Bishkek

The IPA CIS International Observer Team headed by IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy held a meeting in Bishkek with Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhrom Kuchkarov, who had also arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic to monitor the referendum on the draft Constitution.

Opening the meeting, Dmitriy Kobitskiy spoke about the preparations for the observation in Kyrgyzstan. The Secretary General also stressed that the geography of observation had significantly expanded: the work would be carried out not only at polling stations in the Republic, but also at foreign polling stations in Baku, Minsk, Almaty, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Dushanbe, Berlin and for the first time in Beijing.

Bahrom Kuchkarov informed the observers that the preparations were underway in the Republic of Uzbekistan for an important event – the presidential elections scheduled for October 2021. The parties discussed the possibility of organizing a roundtable dedicated to the topic with the participation of MPs, government agencies, the expert and scientific community.

Bakhrom Kuchkarov also noted that the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan was planning to hold within the framework of the plenary session of the Conference “Technologies of the Electoral Process and Election Monitoring”, a presentation of the Provisions on the Heads of CIS Electoral Bodies Advisory Board.
