IPA CIS Observers at Referendum in Belarus Met with Leadership of Republican CEC

Chairman of the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus on Elections and Holding Republican Referenda Igor Karpenko told the IPA CIS Observers Team, headed by Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev, about preparations for the referendum, early voting and work of commissions on 27 February.

Igor Karpenko informed the Observer Team about the large-scale discussion of the proposed amendments. The observers handed over to the CEC the documents drafted by the expert group of the International Institute for Monitoring the Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD) based on the results of long-term monitoring.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to the importance of raising political awareness and exchanging experience in organizing and conducting electoral campaigns across the Commonwealth.
