Organizational Meeting Held by IPA CIS Observers at Referendum in Republic of Kazakhstan

International observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly have begun short-term monitoring of the republican referendum on amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. They gathered this morning in Nursultan for a meeting, where they have defined the observation’s goals and objectives, and were briefed on the work schedule for the next few days.

The event was opened by Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy, who introduced IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic on Agrarian Policy, Deputy Chair of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues Sabir Hajiyev.

Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat and Director of the IPA CIS IIMDD Ivan Musket informed the Team members on the findings of a long-term monitoring of referendum preparations conducted by the IPA CIS IIMDD staff members.

The monitoring group included parliamentarians from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives from the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, including IIMDD experts.
