Parliamentary Elections in Republic of Tajikistan: IPA CIS Observers Perform Monitoring at Polling Stations

The IPA CIS Observer Team performs monitoring of the voting process at the elections to the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan. The observers attended the opening of a number of polling stations, observed sealing of the ballot boxes and beginning of the voting.

IPA CIS Observer Team Coordinator, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Inoyatov and Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy observed the launch of the polling station №4 at the Complex “Dushanbe Plaza” in the capital of the Republic.

On the election day, the MPs from eight IPA CIS Member Nations – the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan – as well as the representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, including the IIMDD IPA CIS experts are planning to visit district election commissions and commissions situated in different regions of Tajikistan.

The IPA CIS observers perform monitoring at the polling stations in Dushanbe, the city of Gissar, Vakhdat, Tursunzoda districts and settlements of the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan in accordance with individual schedules. In addition, monitoring will be also carried out at the foreign polling stations in Baku (Azerbaijan Republic), Minsk (Republic of Belarus), Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic) and St. Petersburg (Russian Federation).

The monitoring is aimed at collecting as much information as possible in order to prepare an objective conclusion on the results of the monitoring.

In the run-up to the elections, the IPA CIS Observer Team met with the leadership of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan and a number of the political parties participating in the elections.
