Preparation for Short-Term Monitoring of Elections to House of Representatives of National Assembly of Republic of Belarus is Under Way

On 15 November, the IPA CIS International Observer Team will begin the short-term monitoring of the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus scheduled for 17 November 2019.

The observer team headed by the group coordinator, First Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdujabbor Azizi, will comprise 20 MPs from nine IPA CIS Member Nations.

The IIMDD IPA CIS expert group has elaborated the Conclusion on Compliance of the Legislation Regulating the Elections of 17 November with the International Standards of Democratic Elections and the Report on Long-Term Monitoring.

The short-term monitoring work programme of the IIMDD IPA CIS team features eight meetings with the leadership of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, election administration bodies, public associations and political parties. On the election day, 17 November, the IPA CIS team members will conduct monitoring at polling stations in Minsk and at some foreign polling stations.

The elections to the seventh Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus were held on 7 November. The results will be announced on 12 November.
