Runoff presidential election taking course in the Republic of Moldova

The CIS Observers Mission, which includes the IPA CIS Observer Team, began its work at the runoff presidential election in the Republic of Moldova.

In an interview, Coordinator of the IPA CIS Observer Team, Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli Akramsho Felaliev noted that within the framework of short-term monitoring of the runoff election, as well as during the first-voting, the main task of the observers group was overseeing the organization of the election process at voting stations and controlling compliance of all procedures with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and international law. The coordinator also emphasized: "Some technical comments reflected in the findings of the IPA CIS Observers Team have been transmitted to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova after the first round of voting, with all of them already taken into account and corrected".

Head of the IPA CIS Observers Mission Alexey Sergeev noted: "Today we have a busy day. Members of the CIS Observers Mission will visit a big number of polling stations in Chisinau and regions of the country, as well as in Minsk, Baku, St. Petersburg and Moscow. At the meeting of the Coordinators Council in the evening we will discuss and sign the final document on our observation. We will announce the results of observation tomorrow at the final press conference of the Mission".

Representatives of the CIS Observers Mission also met with Head of the OSCE ODIHR observers mission Douglas Wake. The parties discussed the organization and the course of the election campaign, as well as voter turnout.
