Commonwealth MPs Supported Expansion of IPA CIS International Contacts

On 27 October 2022, a meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation took place in Samarkand. Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in the meeting of the Commission. Chair of the Commission, Chair of the Committee of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security Aigul Kuspan presided over the event.

The Commission members supported the appeal of the Central American Parliament on the issue of participation in the activities of the IPA CIS as an observer. The Commission also decided to apply to the Central American Parliament with a request to grant the IPA CIS a similar status. The MPs also discussed the issue of preserving historical memory and the inadmissibility of attempts to falsify history. Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on International Affairs Grigory Karasin and Chair of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on International Affairs and National Security Sergei Rachkov reported on this issue.

In addition, the Commission members summed up the activities of the Commission in 2022 and were briefed on the work of the IPA CIS observers during the election observation.
