Experts Proposed to Establish CIS International Working Group on Development of Evidence-Based Medicine, Bioethics and Biosafety

Today, an extended meeting of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health was held at the IPA CIS headquarters with the participation of representatives of the Academies of Sciences of the Commonwealth countries.

The discussion was focused on the relevant issues of scientific, technical and international cooperation in the field of bioethics and evidence-based medicine.

IPA CIS Council Secretary General Dmitriy Kobitskiy addressed the Board members with a welcoming speech and announced that the Model Law on Social Advertising and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles initiated by the Advisory Board would be considered at the upcoming IPA CIS plenary session in Samarkand.

 Moreover, the next meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights will consider a draft Model Law Professional Liability Insurance ​​of Medical Workers, also drafted at the suggestion of the Advisory Board.

The participants discussed common standards for conducting preclinical and clinical studies, issues of technology assessment and healthcare management, the quality of medical care ensuring the compliance with the basic principles of bioethics, key biosafety issues, as well as the main principles for the developing of recommendations on national evidence bases in healthcare in the CIS countries.

They also presented particular mechanisms of international scientific, technical and innovative cooperation in the CIS Member Nations, including within the framework of the 2030 CIS Intergovernmental Program of Innovative Cooperation.

The next meeting of the Health Expert Council is scheduled for the spring of 2023.
