IPA CIS Representatives Took Part in Discussion of Diabetes Issues Across Commonwealth

A meeting of the CIS Expert Advisory Board on Diabetes took place in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk via videoconferencing.

The event brought together the staff members of the CIS medical facilities and research institutes, as well as the representatives of the CIS Executive Committee. The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was represented by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Board of Experts on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova and member of the IPA CIS Board of Experts on Public Health, Deputy Chair of the Russian Diabetes Federation, Chair of St. Petersburg Diabetic Society Marina Shipulina.

One of the key issues on the agenda was the implementation of the 2016–2020 CIS Cooperation Program for Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes. In addition, the members of the Board exchanged information on regulatory legal acts related to the fight against diabetes adopted in the CIS Member Nations, and discussed the analysis of statistical indicators on diabetes in the CIS for 2019.

The participants of the meeting also drew the outcomes of 31st and 32nd meetings of the CIS Advisory Board on Cooperation in the Field of Public Health and discussed the preparation of the CIS International Conference “Diabetes Mellitus: Modern Approaches to Organizing Medical and Social Assistance” to be held in Minsk in June 2021.
