IPA CIS delegation took part in the XXIII Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF)

The main events are held at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The number of participants of the St. Petersburg international economic forum this year is about 17 thousand people.

The SPIEF was attended by Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council; Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy, Deputies of the IPA CIS Council: Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hayk Chilingaryan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Kogut, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Nuskabay, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrghyz Republic Nurbek Satvaldiev and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Irina Sokolova.

“The main focus of SPIEF’19 was not on sustainable development in general way, but on how the balance of national interests of a country and global goals of humanity is unfold in practice” noted Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council.

Recall that in 1996, the IPA CIS and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation launch the initiative to hold SPIEF at the IPA CIS HQ. This idea was supported by the Commonwealth heads of state.

In 2019, the forum has held for the fourth time since 2016 at the EXPOFORUM Convention and exhibition complex. In 2006-2015 SPIEF was held at the LENEXPO field, and in 1997-2005 — at the Tavrichesky Palace.
