Legal Regulation of Platform Work Discussed at IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Economy

On 11 May, a session of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Economy chaired by Rector of the Saint Petersburg State University of Economics Igor Maksimtsev was held in the Tavricheskiy Palace.

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Igor Musalimov, Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Irina Sokolova, Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhtovar Safarzoda, Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Alexey Dolzhikov, experts from the CIS countries, representatives of relevant agencies, research centers and leading universities, staff membersof the IPA CIS Council Secretariat took part in the session.

Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy opened the session. He noted that the results of the Expert Advisory Board’s work are in demand among the CIS MPs.

Before discussing the main agenda, Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy presented the IPA CIS Awards to the members of the Expert Advisory Board.

He also nominated Roman Levin as Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Economy.

Members of the Expert Advisory Board considered and proposed to finalize a draft model law on Protection of the Population from the Effects of Tobacco Smoke and the Consequences of Consumption of Tobacco and Other Nicotine Containing Products, presented by representatives of the WHO European Office for Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases Akaki Zoidze and Jeremias N. Paul Jr.

During the session reports were made on the following topics: economic security of the CIS countries in the present and future; special futures of the technological component of the economic security of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. In addition, the parties discussed the draft Recommendations on the Development of Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Sphere of Economic Security, the model law on Platform Work.

The Expert Advisory Board decided to propose to the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Economy and Finance to create a working group to continue the development of the draft, taking into account the proposals made during the session.

The participants of the session were also informed about the development of the draft of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Creation of the Fund for Joint Research and Cooperation in the Sphere of Scientific and Technological Development of the Commonwealth.
