9th Nevsky International Ecological Congress to Take Place in Framework of CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in May 2021

On 15 January, a meeting on the preparation of the 9th Nevsky International Ecological Congress took place via videoconferencing. It was attended by representatives of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin noted that the 9th Nevsky International Ecological Congress would take place in St. Petersburg in the Tavrichesky Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters – in the third decade of May 2021. Taking into account the epidemiological situation, he proposed to develop three scenarios for the event: in a traditional format, an online format and a mixed format.
Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitry Kobitsky reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to host guests of one of the largest environmental events in the Commonwealth in the Tavricheskiy Palace. He noted that the main theme and issues of the Congress events would be developed with due account to the common interests of the CIS Member Nations in the field of nature protection and ecology.
The next meeting is scheduled to take place at the end of January.
