Council of Heads of CIS Migration Authorities Discussed Relevant IPA CIS Model Laws

On 18 February 2022, the 26th meeting of the Council of the Heads of CIS Migration Authorities took place via videoconferencing. The meeting discussed the migration situation across the Commonwealth, changes in national legislation in the field of migration, features of law enforcement practice and other relevant issues.

The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was represented at the event by member of the Committee of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Constitutional Legislation, Judicial System and Law Enforcement Agencies Nurlan Beknazarov. Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights Evgenia Vladimirova spoke at the event on behalf of the IPA CIS Secretariat. She informed the Council members about the model laws in the field of migration.

Chairperson of the Council of the Heads of CIS Migration Authorities, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Gorovoy invited the participants to take part in the international conference “Migration Processes: Features of Migration Policy at the Present Stage”, which will take place on 16 March 2022 at the IPA CIS headquarters.

The Council members decided to make proposals to the Long-term Plan of Model Law-Making in the Commonwealth of Independent States for the next period in terms of regulating migration processes in the CIS Member Nations.
