Work of IPA CIS in Field of Land Law Presented at Conference in Moscow

On 27 October, the International scientific-practical conference “Land Law and Land Policy of the State: Evolution, Methodology, Values” was held at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation.

At the meeting current issues related to the role of the state in influencing land relations, modern correlation of land law and land policy and the main directions of its reform, land natural potential and legal aspects of its preservation and use, land management and strategic planning were discussed.

At the conference the report on Land and legal aspects of socio-economic development in model lawmaking of the IPA CIS was presented by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Natalia Amburtseva. The report referred to the model Land Code for the CIS countries, adopted in 2004. The Code aimed at strengthen legality in land relations, creating conditions for sustainable use and protecting the land, reproduction and increasing fertility of land.

Natalia Amburtseva noted the need of the development of a new version of the Code and also informed about the progress of work on the draft IPA CIS Model Law on Land Management.
