WHO Regional Bureau for Europe discusses establishment of parliamentarians’ regional network to support health

The 69 Session of the WHO Regional Bureau for Europe is taking place in Copenhagen (Kingdom of Denmark). A technical briefing on the issues of cooperation with regional parliaments in the field of strengthening population’s health and welfare took place within the event.

The briefing focused on the establishment of a regional network of parliamentarians to support health as part of the WHO objective to engage parliamentarians in the activities aimed at ensuring universal health coverage. Representatives of relevant parliamentary committees from European countries and experts from international parliamentary organizations presented relevant recommendations at the meeting.

Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Expert Advisory Board on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova delivered a report at the briefing. According to Evgenia Vladimirova, the implementation of this initiative will ensure a constant dialogue between lawmakers and familiarity with best practices in improving public health indicators, as well as establishing effective information exchange, and provide project participants with additional training opportunities.
