Meeting of CIS Intergovernmental Board on Agriculture and Food Processing Held in Minsk

On 2 December, the CIS Executive Committee held a meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Board on Agriculture and Food Processing.

The meeting brought together the representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, the Eurasian Development Bank, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the CIS Executive Committee and the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Grakun.

The meeting discussed issues of further development of cooperation in the field of agriculture in the new economic conditions, the expediency of developing a cooperation agreement in the field of organic agriculture, activities of the list of response measures to challenges arising, approved by the protocol decision of the CIS Economic Council on 10 June 2022.

The Council members approved the Regulations on the Working Group of Representatives of Phytomonitoring and Plant Protection Services of the CIS Member Nations on Locust Pests Detection and Control, the Procedure of Obligatory Mutual Informing on Cases of Mass Spread of Locust Pests, the Regulations on the Commission on the Development of Viticulture and Winemaking in the CIS Member Nations and approved the draft Unified Methodology of Locust Pest Control for Phytomonitoring and Plant Protection Services of CIS Member Nations, and decided to set up a permanent working group for operational assistance the activities of the Council.

The event was attended by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Natalia Amburtseva. She briefed on the draft Model Law on Organic Agriculture developed by the IPA CIS.

The next meeting of the Council is scheduled for the second half of 2023 in the Kyrgyz Republic.
