Preparations for Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asian and Russian Countries Discussed

On 28 December 2021, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow had a telephone conversation with Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko as part of his visit to the Russian Federation to participate in an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS Member Nations.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia. The President of Turkmenistan and the Speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament also discussed issues related to the preparation and holding of the Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asian Countries and the Russian Federation in Ashgabat in May 2022. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow suggested considering the possibility of holding a meeting of the Dialogue of Women of Central Asia and Russia in Ashgabat on the same dates.
