Senate of Parliament of Republic of Kazakhstan Adopted Law on EAEU Electricity Market

On 17 February 2022, a meeting of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the chairmanship of Maulen Ashimbayev, considered and adopted a law regulating and controlling the activities of natural monopolies in the electricity sector  in the market of the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to the press service of the chamber, the relevant norms are prescribed in the Law on Ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union of 29 May 2014 (regarding the formation of the common electricity market of the Eurasian Economic Union).

In addition, the senators considered and adopted the Law on Ratification of the Agreement Between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation on Military Cooperation. The document was signed in 2020 to update the norms of the previous agreement, adopted in 1994, the provisions of which are either outdated taking into account current realities or have already been implemented.
