Emomali Rustami Elected Speaker of Majlisi Milli of Majlisi Oli of Republic of Tajikistan

On 17 April, the first session of the 6th convocation of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan was held. Emomali Rustami was elected as Speaker of the upper house of the parliament. Rajabboy Akhmadzoda and Yodgor Fayzov became First Deputy and Deputy Speakers correspondigly.

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon addressed the members of the Majlisi Milli of new covocation. He congratulated the senators on their election and wished them success.

Emomali Rahmon outlined the task for the MPs to formulate laws aimed at strengthening independence, development in the social and economic field and expanding market relations, entrepreneurship development, improving education and healthcare, efficient and productive use of land and other natural resources, establishing the rule of law, crime prevention and improving people’s lives.

Emomali Rustami was born on 19 December 1987. He graduated from Tajik National University on speciality “World Economy”, Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation with a major in State and Municipal Administration and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan with a major in Law.

He worked at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Agency for State Financial Control and the Fight Against Corruption of the Republic of Tajikistan. In 2017, he was appointed as Chairman of Dushanbe.
