First Meeting of Upper House of Parliament of Republic of Tajikistan of New Convocation Scheduled for 17 April

The first meeting of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan of the sixth convocation will take place on 17 April.

The elections to the Majlisi Milli took place on 27 March. Following the elections 25 candidates were elected the senators.

The final meeting of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the fifth convocation took place on 19 March. While drawing the outcomes of the five-years work, Speaker of the upper chamber Mahmadsaid Ubaydulloev noted that for a short time Majlisi Milli has come through the establishment period and, having proved the objective necessity of its existence, has entered a qualitatively new stage of development, acquired a special position as a school of political practice and the highest representative and legislative body.

Speaker of the Majlisi Milli emphasized the activities aimed at expanding relations and cooperation with inter-parliamentary organizations. He mentioned that in this regard nine working visits of the delegation of the Majlisi Milli took place in the IPA CIS international forums and events in 2015-2020. During this period, the IPA CIS and the PA CSTO submitted 139 draft legal acts to the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.
