CIS Heads of State Released Address in Connection With 80th Anniversary of Beginning of Great Patriotic War

The text of the Address to the peoples of the CIS Member Nations and the world community in connection with the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, adopted on 1 June 2021 by the Heads of State of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Address calls on the nations, where the places of memory are situated – burials, monuments, memorial signs and memorial objects – honoring Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of those countries from Nazism in 1944–1945, to comply with international commitments to preserve and respect them.

Reaffirming their adherence to the fundamental principles and norms of international law and the UN Charter as one of the outstanding outcomes of the Victory, the heads of the CIS Member Nations called on the international community to join their efforts in building and consolidate peace in a world without wars, conflicts and violence in the name of the well-being and prosperity of all peoples and countries.
