Support for CIS Tourism Industry in Context of Pandemic Discussed in Minsk

On 14 June 2021, the meeting of the Working Group on Responding to Challenges in the Tourism Sector under the CIS Advisory Board on Tourism took place at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk via videoconferencing.

The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee.

The members of the Working Group discussed the implementation of the CIS Strategy on Tourism Development for 2021-2030 and the interaction of the Commonwealth countries in the context of the ongoing spread of COVID-19.

The meeting participants noted that the CIS Member Nations actively introduced requirements for mandatory preliminary testing or vaccination of foreign citizens arriving in the country, additional measures to support the tourism industry continued to be applied, including based on of long-term forecasts of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism development.

According to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the meeting participants deemed it advisable to regularly inform partners about the country’s requirements for the COVID-19 testing or vaccination by international travelers, as well as the development of common approaches to these procedures and supporting documents.
