CIS Permanent Representatives Discussed Results of Presidency of Kyrgyz Republic in Commonwealth of Independent States in 2023

Today, a regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth was held in Minsk.

CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev took part in the meeting.

Permanent representatives heard information on the results of the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2023 and noted a great work done by the Kyrgyz Republic.

As Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic at the Statutory Bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Belarus Erbol Sultanbaev emphasized that the presidency had been based on the principle of continuity in accordance with the Concept of CIS Cooperation Development, the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030, as well as with other statutory and program documents.

Political interaction was actively developed, opinions were exchanged on topical issues of world politics and agreed approaches were developed on the main areas of cooperation between the CIS countries. Work continued on the adoption of joint statements reflecting common views of the CIS countries on topical and global problems, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported.

In the humanitarian sphere, the Treaty on the Establishment of the International Organization for the Russian Language is of great importance. The effective implementation of the Action Plan for the Year of the Russian Language as a Language of Interethnic Communication in the CIS in 2023 was continued.

The adoption of the Action Plan for the preparation and celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2025 in the CIS was of considerable importance.

Under the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic, significant attention was paid to cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, economic crime, illegal migration and trafficking in human beings.

Diplomats were presented with information on the progress in implementing the Plan of Priority Actions on the Implementation of the Concept of CIS Cooperation Development. The document consists of 59 paragraphs providing for the preparation and conduct of 194 events.

Representative of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat at the CIS Executive Committee Igor Borovko participated in the meeting.
