International Conference on Protection of Rights of Victims of Terrorism Kicks Off

On 24 November 2020, the virtual conference “Model Legislative Provisions on the Right to Compensation for Victims of Terrorism” organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) – partners of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

On behalf of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat the event was attended by Secretary of the Joint Commission at the IPA CIS for the Harmonization of National Laws Related to Security, Countering Emerging Threats and Challenges Stanislav Korostelyov, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation Maximillian Selyutin, and Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Defense and Security Issues Aleksandr Borisov.

The participation is open to relevant international, national and executive organizations dealing with terrorism issues.

One of the key issues of the agenda was the right of victims of terrorism to compensation.

Discussions of issues related to the rehabilitation of victims of terrorism within the framework of the virtual conference will continue until 28 January 2021.
