Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health finished its work in the Czech Republic

The 6th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health that brought together more than 450 participants from 53 countries of the WHO European Region, as well as representatives of international and public non-governmental organizations, concluded its work in Ostrava (Czech Republic). Chairman of the Committee of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Agriculture, Natural Resources and Development of Rural Areas, Member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Sergey Plotnikov attended the Conference.

The participants of the Conference, organized by the WHO Regional Office for Europe in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the United Nations Environment Program, discussed measures helping the European region realize the opportunities and overcome the challenges of the 21st century.

The experts highlighted seven key objectives related to the protection of the environment and public health: chemical safety, clean air, good urban ecology, sustainable development of the global healthcare system of, recycling of industrial waste, access to water, and addressing factors of climate change.

As a result of the discussions, the participants of the Conference signed the Declaration stating that measures related to curbing environmental risks should become a priority of all European countries in the European region until 2018.
