Minsk. IPA CIS reported on model legislation in the field of information security

This is the first Commonwealth meeting on this subject. Analysts underline its high relevance in now that we have a common customs space. The experts discussed the adaptability of national regulations to bring down barriers in sharing data, which is valuable for Member Nations.

The Conference Information Security: a Factor of National Security was witnessed by Vladimir Bondurovskiy, Deputy Head of the Analytical Department of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Joint Commission on the Harmonization of National Laws against Terrorism, Crime and Illicit Drug Trafficking, member of the Coordination Council of the Union of Lawyers.

Vladimir Bondurovskiy welcomed the participants of the Conference on behalf of IPA CIS Secretary General Alexey Sergeev and the leadership of the Joint Commission.

In his report Interparliamentary cooperation in the CIS and information security, he outlined the contribution of the IPA CIS in the common effort of Member Nations to ensure information security and introduce human rights in cyber-space. According to him, a whole series of model laws dealing with information security already exists. To a good extent, this is a contribution of the IPA CIS Permanent Commissions and the IPA CIS – RСС Expert Council.

Moreover, there are draft Recommendations on improving the harmonization of national laws on information security of the CIS Member Nations.

The Recommendations will be a major instrument building legal frameworks needed to meet information security challenges and threats in the Commonwealth.
