IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights held its session in the Tavricheskiy Palace

The session started with the consideration of the organizational matters. Arif Rahimzade, Chair of the Committee of Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Regional Affaires, was unanimously elected Chair of the Commission. Nikol Pashinyan, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on Health Care and Social Affairs became Deputy Chair.

Members of the meeting discussed the draft structure of the Model Migration Code for the CIS Member Nations, draft frameworks for the Model Labor Code for the CIS Member Nations, Recommendations on Pension Coverage for Citizens of the CIS Member Nations and Recommendations on Access to Information on the Legal Status of Citizens.

Human Rights Ombudsman in St. Petersburg Aleksandr Shishlov informed the participants about his current work.

The session also focused on the CIS Board of Statistics report on indicators of the living standards of the families across the CIS with regard to the Year of the Family. Members of the Commission also analyzed the practice of St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the Russian Red Cross Society on the issues related to the integration of migrants.

In addition, participants heard and discussed the report on the activity of the IPA CIS Working Group on Reviewing Legislation in the Field of HIV/AIDS and Migration in the CIS countries, which held its session on 1 November in the IPA CIS headquarters.

The meeting also made proposals on the amendments to the Long-term Plan of Model Law-Making in the CIS for 2016–2020.

MPs from the CIS member states (the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation), Acting Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Sergey Antufiev, and invited experts attended the meeting.
