Meeting of Scientific and Advisory Council Under CIS Anti-Terrorism Center Took Place in Moscow

On 2 November 2022, an extended plenary meeting of the Scientific and Advisory Council under the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center took place in Moscow.

Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, Colonel General Evgeniy Sysoev opened the event and noted that the rapid change in the geopolitical situation and the effect of the ongoing global transformation of the entire international security system on the security in the CIS.

During the event, the experts discussed a wide range of issues, including information warfare, legal and scientific support for the work of the competent authorities to counter terrorism and extremism.

The event brought together the representatives of the security and special services of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan, statutory and sectoral cooperation bodies of the CIS, as well as international organizations and universities.

Executive Secretary of the Joint Commission at the IPA CIS for the Harmonization of National Laws Related to Security, Countering Emerging Threats and Challenges Stanislav Korostelyov presented a report on distinguishing between terrorism and extremism at the plenary session. The Executive Secretary also joined the new Scientific Advisory Board under the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center.

On the margins of the event, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center and the Moscow State Linguistic University signed a memorandum of cooperation.
