CEC of Republic of Uzbekistan to Open Foreign Polling Stations in 39 Countries for Referendum

55 polling stations will be opened at the diplomatic missions in 39 countries for referendum on the Draft Constitutional Law on the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Information about the polling stations is available at the interactive map, press-service of the CEC reports.

The Commission stresses that observers from other countries and international organizations, as well as media representatives, have the right to participate in all activities related to the preparation and conduct of the referendum. The constitutional referendum is scheduled for 30 April 2023.

In the case of approval by citizens, the number of articles in the Constitution will increase from the current 128 to 155.

Proposals include expansion of the powers of MPs, increase the number of provisions protecting human rights and freedoms, and reduce restrictions on participation in elections.

IPA CIS Observers will monitor the referendum at the invitation of Chair of the CEC of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev.
