MPs of Belarus Ratified CIS Agreement on Cooperation in Combating Corruption

The draft Law on Ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member Nations in Combating Corruption was adopted in the first reading by the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus today. The cooperation is aimed at the development of a coordinated policy, joint programs and measures to combat corruption, improvement of the legal framework, information exchange in the anti-corruption sphere.

The Agreement was signed in Astana on 14 October 2022 at a meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of State.

In accordance with the document, the cooperation will include the provision of assistance in cases of corruption crimes and offenses, the conduct of coordinated operational search and preventive measures in the field of combating corruption crimes, cooperation in the search, detention and extradition of persons who have committed corruption crimes. The Agreement also refers to the provision by the CIS states of legal protection and support for individuals and organizations involved in combating corruption, the creation and use of information systems in the anti-corruption field, the development of common strategies, programs and plans, etc.
